civic vx noise, cant figure it out what is it, help!

Does it still drive normally with no check engine or check oil lights?
Let it sit and run about ten minutes, and if it continues grinding, and then your dash warnings come on, you may want to take a closer look at it.

A buddy of mine had a similar issue with his '97, and it turned out to be his ignition distributor.
