Need serious help with Dodge Dakota
I have a 97 Dodge dak v8 5.2L
About 2 months ago my truck started acting up. I would start it and it would drive fine but once i would try to accelerate .. onto the freeway or just accelerate in general it would not accelerate, it would putt as if it had no gas...... The only way to make it stop was to take my foot off the gas and then put it back on. That or just gun it. If i stayed at a light or still for a while it would slowly start to shake my truck and the rpms would get way low but if i popped it into neutral it would rev itself up way high and then go back to normal.... . I took it to my mechanic he said i just needed to clean my idle air control valve. It helped for maybe 20 minutes of driving afterwards but then my truck began to act up again. The problem isn't constant it comes and goes. Has nothing to do with the engine being hot or cold. Its just entirely random. When it does happen however the Check Engine light comes on. But goes away after i turn it off usually... Please.. any info helps |

Re: Need serious help with Dodge Dakota
is the catalytic converter rattling?
Have you checked to see what the code is? That might give you the best direction to head into.

I had a similar experience on a car. It ended up going away when i changed plugs and wires.

Re: Need serious help with Dodge Dakota
If the check engine light was on there should have been a code.
I had problems with my 2000 stalling out when stopped and it turned out to be the throttle position sensor. |
