2013 expedition el xlt miles?
Hello all.
I am thinking of buying a 2013 expedition EL xlt with 189000 miles on it for 6000. I am pretty sure they are highway miles but dont know. I checked it out today and drove it around. It drives smoothly. no knocking noises. no out of the ordinary noises coming from the engine or suspension that I noticed. engine looks clean and good. few minor cosmetic issues but nothing that cannot be repaired. I would like some advice on whether it is to many miles or is it worth it? no carfax. but im thinking of getting one. what do yall think? |

one thing i did notice is that i could not get rid of the message telling me to check reverse sensor on rear bumper. i could not reset the message after pressing the info and reset buttons.

If you hear the slightest ticking, it probably needs full timing chains, guides, cam phasers and chain slack adjusters. For the good stuff you are looking at $1,000 in parts alone. While it is apart, best to put in a new oil pump too, another couple hundred there. Put 5-30 oil in it instead of the 5-20. Ford started with that thinner oil for mileage purposes, but it lead to all these other issues later out of warrantee usually @ 100,000 miles (but some sooner/some later). If you go to the expedition forum, you will get detailed answers.
