Re: Chassis 073 to be offered at 2015 RM-Sotheby's Auctions in Monterey
The car fitted with the unique headlights - which, aesthetically, never did much for me.
In regards to 073, its wonderful to hear the new owner is stretching its legs so early in ownership - then again, which one of us wouldn't? I do wonder if the unique wheels will stay. Their shape almost takes away from the presence of the car, especially against the aggressive lines of the HDK. I think I read somewhere that the intent was to capture the multi-spoke styling found on the '97 GTRs. I can see the connection. My guess is the width difference between body styles couldn't accommodate the offset found on the '97 GTRs. The change in offset to "fit" '97 GTR wheels flattened out the concave shape making a good looking wheel rather dull. |

Those that know, know, but for those that don't know, what is different about the dashboard of this F1 compared to most others?

Does this car also have the green light on the dashboard? is it the same for every car or could the owners choose which colour they would prefer? I think blue would be better in my opinion

The black gauges comes to mind. A few of the other road cars share this trait. I'm not sure if any of the other cars have the chassis number featured on the speedometer.

Re: Chassis 073 to be offered at 2015 RM-Sotheby's Auctions in Monterey
I think the answer that Greg might have been seeking was the lack of a dial for controlling the Brake Balance Foil which will be absent on the left-side dashpod in cars which have been upgraded with the High Downforce Kit.
Indeed though, the car does have carbon gauge faces which are a rare option. Even its near-twin, chassis 018, still has the standard silver gauge faces. Besides the actual F1 LMs, I can only recall seeing carbon gauge faces in Atkinson's former car, chassis 061, but his didn't include the chassis number printed like we see there on 073. >8^) ER |

Re: Chassis 073 to be offered at 2015 RM-Sotheby's Auctions in Monterey
I believe its the only non-LM with the BBF knob deleted AND the black dials; its the only one with the chassis number engraved in the dial; and its with the other HDF kitted F1's in having its BBF knob deleted due it not needing the BBF cos of its rear wing

Yes, it has found a new buyer at an eye-watering price and will remain in the USA.
Some speculation that we may see it receive a makeover in the future, so that will be 'interesting'. >8^) ER |

AMG Green Velvet and non-HDF kit might be nice.

Sure would be, but I don't expect this new owner to #makegreengreatagain unfortunately.
