06 Silverado Blower motor

My neighbor has an 06 silverado that i think has the faulty blower motor resistor. It only works on certain fan speeds and it also sometimes stays on when he shuts the truck off. The fans continue to run that it drains the battery. So can someone tell me where the resistor pack is? im assuming its located on the passenger side under the dash. but can you give specifics? thanks

My Chilton's manual for states that for 2003 and newer the relay and resister are one unit and are located in the fuse/relay center in the engine compartment.

"If the blower motor works in every position except HIGH, the blower high relayis probably defective and must be replaced. Since the blower resistor/relay is assembled as a single unit it will be necessary to replace the entire unit."

If that is not the case write back and I will itemize the check on the resistor.

Re: 06 Silverado Blower motor

if manual hvac; has a blower motor resisitor located at the bottom of the hvac assembly. remove the lower cover/insulator panel in the passenger footwell and its behind the blower motor near the firewall.

if auto hvac; blower speed is controled by a blower motor control processor...located in the same place as the resistor would be.

with the symptoms sounds like the auto computer controller hvac system ...if so it is usually the ac computer defective..common problem..

manual ac is a better simpler design with less issues ...just those blower resistors, very low quaility ...not durable....

auto ac is convenient..

Re: 06 Silverado Blower motor

I had this happen on my 05 2500 HD a year 1/2 ago. I was also confused about the system,ie, resisters? I had no resisters. Turned out to be the hvac control module. Passanger side behind a cover. Bought the part online for half of what the dealer wanted. If I recall, 2 screws and about 15 minutes to install,

Re: 06 Silverado Blower motor

The dealer wanted like $130 something plus tax. I bought online from Rock Auto. I remember high $60's. ---, I just looked it up. Control module for the automatic climate control system, Part # 1580567 is $69.79. Shipping to my location $7.49, and no tax. Pretty reasonable.
