thinking about buying 2001 lincoln LS
anybody that has any ideas on this would be a great help. not real familiar with all the new electronic stuff
A guy that i know has a dealership and has a 2001 lincoln LS with 130k miles on it. body is in good shape, but it's obvious it was in a small wreck before. just a couple peices on the body where new parts were put in, and painted pearl instead of white. barely noticeable, but i notice these things. but. the car when he first got it in, had a hard shift. when put in gear it tried to give you whip-lash. so he got a used trans with 15k miles on it. he put it in, and it's just not running right, now i know that all this electronic stuff has to be timed up, and configured with the new trans, and it has yet to be done. he doesn't understand what i'm telling him, so he hooked it up to his computer, and has a different idea of what is wrong. the error codes coming up on the computer are shift sylenoid a and b, and torque convertor clutch sylenoid. now, i know the sylenoids are all behind the valve body, and i could change them if i had to, and i got it for the right price. but. i wanted to know if anybody else has any idea's more about lincoln's and changing the transmissions. any help or information would be great. thanks guys(and possibly girls, just not as likely. Just kidding:-D) |

Re: thinking about buying 2001 lincoln LS
Well, truthfully, if you are the type of person who notices things like the barely noticeable difference in paint colors, you're probably not going to be happy with this purchase. Everytime you walk by the car, you're going to notice the difference and never be happy with it.
There's a reasonably good chance the transmission, even with only 15k miles on it, could still have the common shift solenoid issue. -Rod |

Check KBB + NADA to see what the cars worth.
This car has issues and are very expensive for maintenance. Do you like to get your hands greasy? MCGIVER |
