Fell in love with VR6 but dont know if 1.8T would be better please HELP

ive had my eye on the VR6 and have made later posts about this car, and the mods i wanted to do to it. But my wallet isnt havin it. I was wondering if you all had suggestions, about the ups and downs of getting a 1.8T and if i could get it up fast enough to maybe even run in the 13`s, and what that would take. because ive got a bet with my freinds 2001 Gsr that i can by jan of next year. please HELP

Talking Re: Fell in love with VR6 but dont know if 1.8T would be better please HELP

Here some of the cons and pros, thats all i can think of right now, hope it helps.

1.8t
Pro
-cheaper to upgrade(chip it and you got 220hp/240lb) $300-500
-faster (stock)
-handles better (stock)
-Cheaper insurance (smaller engine, less curb weight, car costs less)
-can't twin turbo
-some lag (stock)
-heavy for 1.8l displacement

vr6
Pro
-has more potential, which costs more to upgrade
-no lag
-smoother acceleration
-twin turbo will own any 1.8t (if you have $$)
Con
-Costs more to start with (compared to 1.8t)
-More expensive to upgrade (compared to 1.8t)
-Slower (stock)
-insurance cost is higher due to bigger engine and more horsepower and weight, plus the cost of the car.

Re: Fell in love with VR6 but dont know if 1.8T would be better please HELP

I'm not saying the vr6 is unreliable and I am not saying the 1.8t isn't but the vr6 is designed poorly if you think of a crossflow cylinder head- intake on the opposite side of the exhaust to prevent heat from going to the intake valves because cool air burns better-
the vr6 has the intake at one side of the head (and only one head for both banks of cylinders) and the rear cylinders get hotter air.
the 1.8t is a far advanced engine like the audi/vw v6 with 30 valves the 1.8t has 5 valves per cylinder 3 for the intake and 2 for the exhaust and what it lacks in displacement it makes up for it with boost.
I could say an improperly maintained 1.8t would not last as long as the vr6

Vr6 is the way to go. 1.8t are fun but they always break. All the time it's always something.
I have owned mine3 years. Love- hate relationship
