2002 Regal temp & fan sensor
By the temp gauge its hotter than normal. It got half way, a little past that and it has overheated in the past. I took it in for repair. They said the sensor that turns on the fans was reacting to slow. They replaced one right under the thermostat. It still runs near the half way mark and I can sense the extra heat. The repair did not help. When normal it runs a full mark before the half way mark.
Is the sensor below the thermostat control the temp gauge and turn on the fans as well? I'm curious how to approach this since it did not help my problem. Also, this is weird but after the repair I noticed my inside rear view mirror is different. Its got a light blue oval circle in the middle, it was clear before the repair. Its like its a different mirror and looking back into traffic is very blurred. Any ideas what up with that? Thanks, this has been a strange experience. Attached is a pic of the mirror. |

Re: 2002 Regal temp & fan sensor
The tech showed me on a scanner the running temp was around 205 and said that is normal. The gauge runs close to the half way mark which is almost a full mark higher than in the past. That gauge change just happened, to me that is not normal What is considered normal on the gauge and temp? I read the mirror has liquid so it appears it sprung an inside leak. Do the wires plug into the mirror? Fairly easy install? Thanks

There should be a connector on the front side of the mirror, with the mating plug on the harness in the headliner.
The difficulty can be in removing the mirror from the windshield mount without stripping the mount off the glass. The mount uses a spring clip which is fairly robust.
