Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
awesome!
How come that 036 has Swiss plates in front and American on the back; is that legal? |

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Technically no, but in many US states you aren't required to have a front plate so you could theoretically put whatever you want on the front of your car. Texas is one of those states that does require a front plate, but the penalty for non-compliance is probably small.
I live in California where one is "required" also, but in my 17 years of driving, despite receiving numerous other tickets for things like speeding I have only once been sighted for lack of a front plate and none of my cars has ever had one. <knocks on wood> The areas of CA that seem to focus on ticketing for lack of a front plate also seem to be the ones with speed and traffic light cameras... I wonder why?? >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
I have UK plates on one of my cars and on the back i simply tied the US plate over it. Nobody's said anything yet.

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Camera phone photos of a silver F1 taken at the Chelsea Outlet Center in Clinton, CT on March 22nd, 2009. Normally I would think it safe to assume this was chassis #044, however if you look closely, there appears to be a "McLaren F1" decal on the lower flank ahead of the rear wheel. I don't recall seeing any silver road cars with a decal like that before, certainly never on #044, so that leaves it open to other possibilities in my mind. The person who saw it said it wasn't wearing CT plates, but didn't elaborate further.

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Yes - and the sighting occurred too early for it to be #068 in case anyone had that idea. Here's the source if you want to ask about it.
Meanwhile, 0-60 Magazine had these two photos in its Wallpaper section. The first one should be #024. The second one is likely the same car, I would venture to guess. Nice shots anyway. >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Hello everyone. I'm new here but I saw #028 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA a little over a month ago and met the owner who let me sit in the car and take some pics. I'm not sure if everyone knows the owner of the #028 car or not, but he was very friendly and told all about how he loves daily driving his F1.
I know Erik has seen these already, but maybe they'll be new to the rest of you guys: I have no idea what this tag says so if anyone knows what the signature reads, please let me know: And my favorite two shots (that's me!): Hi-res pics can be seen HERE. I'm about 75% sure that the owner, Mr Price, will have his car at Laguna Seca this year for the Monterey Historics and I'm hoping to score a ride in it. If you have any requests for photos of anything specific if I'm lucky enough to see the car again, let me know and I'll do my best when I'm back out in CA in Aug. |

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Thanks Erik! It's great to be here! I just got done reading all 34 pages of the thread that Mr Selldorf started about his ownership experience. It blew my mind! I think I'm going to like it here.

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
"Andretti"
Lots of discussion about that here before - the car was originally Michael Andretti's. If it hasn't been recovered, his signature appears on the underside of the sun visor. >8^) ER |

Re: Recap of the American F1 fleet
Must be said, that has to be one of my favourite F1's, it really does look stunning in red, especially in those wonderful photos.
Great to have you over here Al. |

I'm loving the shot of the steering wheel through the rear window
