Re: Car modeling... confessions
I've pulled a bunch of kits out of storage and onto my workbench because they are in my Forza4 garage.....
...and I'm trawling the internet for some of my other Forza favourites... Man we really need no excuse to go and buy more kits do we.....?? |

Re: Car modeling... confessions
Sometimes, I just pull a kit off the shelf, put the body on the chassis, and see how it looks with my entire collection of wheels under it. Then, I put it away. Then, I get another one down and do it again. Three hours later, I have lost an odd number of wheels, and am on eBay looking for a kit perfect for that one set of wheels that hasn't fit anything yet...

Re: Car modeling... confessions
I haven't finished a model since I was a kid (15+ years ago)....couple of years ago I bought some kids and tools, started working on a couple, joined here, then I've stalled out building my paint booth. I have all materials and most are cut out, it's just taking forever to assemble it.

Re: Car modeling... confessions
I should be packing my things for my upcoming move back to Ohio. Instead, I decided to start another kit that may not ever get finished.
I have to pack the contents of a 3-bedroom house by myself so what do I start with? Yes, my models; at least the ones that aren't being worked on.

Re: Car modeling... confessions
I always seem to buy at least two of the same kit when I originally tell myself "one is good enough".

Re: Car modeling... confessions
I buy a few 1:24 kits using the justification that (a) they're Porsches, and (b) they'll be useful as reference for future scratchbuilt projects...I've not actually built a 1:24 car kit to a finished standard in my life! I'm 40 next year...

Re: Car modeling... confessions
I use hot glue to attach large front and rear bumpers onto muscle cars.
When I need to touch something up I sometimes don't fully mix the paint I'm using and just dry brush using the residue from the top of the bottle. My spray booth is made out of a cardboard box. I take a whiff of Tamiya paint every time I open a bottle. I like the smell!!! I use rattle can on my bodies instead of my airbrush I raid my wife and daughters nail polish stash for new color ideas. |
