Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Ah. Finally another one of your builds.
The wheel centre nut is a work of art in itself. You must have a very steady had and nerves of steel. Definately going to enjoy this build. The interior is already looking fantastic. And also the damage to the bodywork looks very realistic. Did you thin the plastic around the damage area? |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Hi all,
thanks a lot for your encouragement! Just a small update and personal answers. @tonie: Here are two pics of the muffler before installation. Later on the whole area will be upgraded with frankensteined kit parts. @derxl: yes indeed i thinned the plastic a bit from behind to achieve harder edges! Just finished my interpretation of that typical blue signal light at the inside of the windshield. These lights can be seen often fixed to the glass with ordinary tape, in fact!! I think they are installed there to warn the (slower) cars / drivers in front at night. the small box is made out of sheet styrene / plastic card covered with silver foil / bare metal self adhesive foil. The lenses are looted.............from my little girls. They had a piece of plastic sheet with glass pearls in every kind of colours and diamater to stick them everywhere. They were given a new one today, sure!!! I bought a big new one for them. I think the look of the little box is pretty cool and will stand in contrast to the heavily weathered surface later on. OK folks, have fun, all the best yours jochen |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Hi Jochen,
Thanks for the pics. That will be a very good inspiration. You made me curious what the other frankensteined parts will be Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the blue light is sort of a permanent blue flag for the 30 fastest qualifiers? Your interpretation looks very good anyway. Regards, Tonie |

Hello Jochen.
The interior looks really great. You did a good solution on the front chassis mounting. I'm so excited how looks the finish car with the damage. Michael P.S.: Ich habe am Wochenende den Molitor McLaren live gesehen. Sehr schönes Auto |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Hi all,
after finishing my helmet …….on with the main actor. I’m busy with the body now. I decided to replace various significant body parts such as the front and rear underbody plate (with the 4 airstream deflectors) and the rear wing. Bending that one was quite a thrill, I wasted some material until I got the desired shape. Then a small tearing edge was added. I use copper sheet for these areas. Sometimes dangerous to cut and sand the extremely sharp edges, but a clean and accurate looking in the end. That’s what counts, from my point of view. Two small electronic boxes were scratched to add more detail to the headlights. OK, thats it for now. have fun. Good fight, good night! Yours Jochen |

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Jochen - great attention to detail - I love the rear exhaust - will have to try that on my "Flying Lizard" 997 GT3 RSR - did you remove the molded in wiring that is in the Fujimi interior tub part? - your wiring looks good - also are you going to scratch build the Hydraulic lifting jacks? - thanks - John

Re: RINGKÄMPFER Porsche 997GT3R 24h
Jochen,
Can you please go into detail on how you dirty up your models for this build. I had to go back and find your DBR9 build to see what people were talking about. Two questions, after you apply the pastels, do you use anything to keep them in place? How do you move the model without fingerprints? Great work, and thanks for your posts, Tim |
