Mini Cooper John Player Special

For a groupbuild I had to build the exact same kit. The Tamiya Mini Cooper racing.

I found a nice Mini on Google that I will use as an idea. Will not be exactly the same.

First of all the kit:

I painted the body in primer, followed by a gold layer. After that I masked off the gold trim and painted it black.

Next were the decals.

After that I clearcoated the body. I had a lot of dust in my paint so I had to polish the body. I used Micromesh 1500 til 12000 grit and Menzerna 4 step polish compounds. Now it's shiny!

How on earth did you mask such thin stripes? Did you cut masking tape into stripes? Can they be bent arround curves like that?

I used Aizu tape. Don't know the right size bit its like a milimeter or simething. Its pretty easy to bent but you really need to press everything good in shape before painting.
