Re: no reverse
It helps if you know what kind of transmission you have. You got a gearbox (manual) or an automatic? Also, how many miles on it, when was it last serviced, fluid level, fluid color, etc.?

Re: no reverse
My reply here is the same as the other guy is just posted.
To properly check the fluid level, the fluid should be hot and the truck must be idling in neutral (N). Checking any other way will give you a false level. Now I offer the following suggestion. Take it for a drive going forward. Start out in manual low (1). At 3000 rpm, shift to manual second (2). At 3,000 rpm again, shift to D. Tell me what happens after you shift to D. I await your reply, as well.

Re: no reverse
Well, I am assuming you have a solid third gear (D) because if you didn't, I'm sure you would have mentioned it.
Reverse gear requires the application of both the front clutch pack and the low/reverse band. If the front clutch pack went out, you would lose reverse and third gear together. If the low/reverse band has gone out, or needs adjustment, you will have no reverse AND no engine braking in manual low. One more test to try. Put the truck in manual low and bring it up to 3,000 rpm. Then take your foot off the gas. If the truck free wheels with no engine braking, the low/reverse band is the culprit. You either need to adjust it or rebuild the transmission. If you do in fact have engine braking capability in manual low, I have no clue why you don't have reverse. Maybe a problem with the valve body. Let me know what you find.
