I know window tint is a film, but how do you put it on without a lot of air bubbles. My step brother put some on his car and it looked like shit. Also, what is the exact legal limit for how dark it can be... i want my windows almost black. And is it true you can't tint you winshield and back window... my step brother told me that to but he's usually full of shit, I just want to know for sure.

Re: Window tinting

the percentage is based on how much light gets through

30% means 30% of light can get through

thats why 5 is the darkest because 5% gets through

Re: Window tinting

Before tinting your windows find out what the local laws are regarding the tint percentage. Most states the legal limit is 35% but people go alot darker. It also matters what color the vehicle is that the tint is going on. You can put 20% tint on a black car and a white car and the white car will look alot darker simply because of the contrasting color. As for rear windows yes they can be tinted, as for windshields they can be tinted but only so far down. If you look on your windshield it has a factory tint on about the top 3 in. and if you look usually on the passenger side of it you will see a little line and letters on the window, most states will not let you tint past that line as it is classified as an obstruction of sight. The other way you can do it is go to a local shop that tints windows and have them tint it to the legal limit and when they do that on the back bottom corner of the drivers door window they put a little sticker that tells police the tint is legal darkness and then put the tint on top of that. Once they put that initial layer of tint on just go to the auto store or wherever and buy whatever darkness tint you want and the application tools and put that on. It will drastically darken the level of the tint but beware when you get into really dark tint like 5 and 2 1/2% then at night time not only is it impossible to see in but extremely hard to see out as well.

there are technically 2 ways to tint windows...film and spray.

film is the best way....spray is fine for hard to tint, large windows that you don't care about--it looks aweful.

keep in mind the the film has 2 different sides, use the correct side!

Re: Window tinting

I was thinking of tinting my Civic just slightly. The dark interior makes it miserable in the summer and near impossible to cool. I'm hoping tenting will help.

Is it better to start new thread to add answer to an old thread? Maybe admin starts forum topic "Solved questions", where can be moved all locked and succesfully solved threads.
