1999 Inrepid Tech problem.
In my 99 Intrepid, every time I step on the brakes, the trunk release engages and opens it up. As well, when I hit the trunk unlock button inside the car, the brake lights come on. I had it looked at and they didnt find anything. I was told he had seen it before, but couldn't remember what the problem had been. He said it was something stupid. Both fuse boxes were check as well as all of the wiring in the trunk. Can anybody help me with this?

Re: 1999 Inrepid Tech problem.
Well its pretty clear the wiring going to the trunk release is shorting against the brake light wiring.
You hit the brakes, it pops the truck, and vise-versa. All you have to do is strip out the interior of the car, and follow those wires. Not fun, but its the only way you are going to find the problem. (of course, start in the obvious, accessable places, then start pulling out bits of trim).

Re: 1999 Inrepid Tech problem.
I hate to say, this one isn't documented. The only thing I could find remotely related was a grounding issue in the trunk, next to the cyclops brake light, which in one instants, caused the radio to cut out when you hit the brakes. It might be worth checking....but unfortunately, not real sure on that one.
