The "SLAMMED" Volkswagen Golf VR5 is under way.
Well...to everybody that voted for this to happen....its underway.
To those who said i had lost the plot :finger: :finger: ..j/k Anyway...i have made a start, the body has been all sanded and ready for a few coats of primmer tomorrow. Its a pretty basic kit...not much to paint and not many parts. So all parts have been cut from the sprue's and will be ready for painting later on. Usual up dates and pics for those who are interested will follow as work gets done. This is "probably" the wheels i will use, and also the look i'm hoping to get.(am i still nuts ??? )

That car screams for a rear diffuser and a front DTM-style splitter!

Got the body primmed today and lots of other bits painted also...its coming along real well as there is not many parts to paint.
Heres a quick step to what i have done so far.... Make sure you sand the car well...removing molding lines etc....i use 600 grit for this. There was not many lines on it, just the usual bumper ones. Finish off the sanding with 1200 grit paper. Before painting, heat the can up in hot water for 10 minutes 2 Coats of primer about 5-10 mins apart Dont bother sanding between coats as i dont really see the point...all you are doing is making more dust and removing half the paint you have just stick on.

Can't wait to see it done.
My real car is a Golf IV and I'm going to use this Tamiya model as base to build an exact replica. What colour you will use to paint it? My is silver. |
