SILV06 - Two Months Left

We are just one RSVP shy of 100 with two months left until The Largest Supra Event on the Planet! Only one of those RSVPs so far is not a Supra owner and five are flying in. Based on stats from previous years we are on track to have 200+ Supras in Vegas this fall.

Remember that RSVPing online will help decrease your wait during the Show-and-Shine check-in process. If you don’t RSVP online you will need to fill out the registration form before entering the lot. Visit http://Vegas.Supras.Org/v06/rsvp.asp to get RSVPd today.

Show-and-Shine: Current counts show 11 MkIIs, 35 MkIIIs, and 47 MkIVs are RSVPd. The majority of those RSVPd are planning on attending the Show-and-Shine – last year featuring 172 Supras shining in the sun like jewels in the desert.

Scenic Drive: Interestingly, the activity with the second highest number of RSVPs is the Scenic Drive. This year we will be returning to Red Rock Canyon. This drive typically draws about 50 Supras with our peak year at over 60.

Drag Showdown: The Drag Showdown typically draws about 50 – 60 Supras each year and we are on track to hit that range again this year. The schedule has changed a bit and LVMS has created what they are calling “Supra Saturday”. We will share the track with an estimated 35 – 45 VW Bugs but we will be the feature during the daytime session.

Dyno Challenge: With the change in the Drags we will have more time for the dyno. This year we are planning to run into the early evening to give more Supras the opportunity to see what they’ve got. The Invitational from the past two years is being split but the Open session will remain open to any Supra on a first-come first-served basis. The Invitational will feature only MkIV Supras and the new session, the Smackdown, will feature MkIIIs – I am hearing rumors that we will see even more MkIIIs dropping some awesome numbers. Can someone hit the magic 4-digit mark this year? We’ll have to wait and see.

Poker Tournament: The Poker Tournament is back on the schedule and already has 27 RSVPs. Can we hit 50? More players means we pay out more places and the prize money goes up.

Track Day: Finally, the PCA San Diego Region is offering space to Supras for their track days on Sept 30 and Oct 1 – space is limited and they did say they usually sell out so don’t wait too long or you may miss out.

California is WAY out in front on RSVPs – as usual – with 49. In second place is Arizona with 25 – equal to the total number of RSVPs from all of the other states. One RSVP from Delaware is technically the furthest but we do have an RSVP from Hawaii again this year.

Why are there more 1994 Supras that always show up to these events than any other year? We may never know the answer to that question but again the 94s have the highest number of RSVPs in again this year – one fifth of the RSVPs are for 94s.

We can’t forget that there are actually non-turbo Supras out there. We currently show 15 NAs have RSVPd – more turbo MkIIs have RSVPd than non-turbos.
What is the most popular color for the Supra – at least according to our RSVPs? Some people say white. Our current leader for color is Black with over 25% of the RSVPs.

Our group rates at the Luxor are only available for the next month (special group rates expire on the 25th). Our group rates are better than many lesser grade hotels during the same period.

Established back in 1997 the annual Supras Invade Las Vegas event quickly grew to be The Largest Supra Event on the Planet! In 1999 we saw more than 150 Supras at the Show-and-Shine. That record would remain in place until 2004 when we saw 163 Supras – with still more left in the parking garage. Can we break last year’s record of 172? How many Supras will be left in the parking garage? We’ll have to wait and see.

Make your plans now to join us this September in Las Vegas for the 2006 Supras Invade Las Vegas Event.
