The 1st engine to be made
This is the NOS engine from Pat Doherty's Pro/Mod 57' Chevy and it will be the one that TEM will design and produce in 1:25th scale. Originally we had thought to include all the internal parts as well as the external but decided that it would cost the consumer too much so we opted to only do an engine with all the external goodies. Note, only what is directly attached to the engine will be included in the kit. Parts such as the NOS bottles, pressure sensor boxes, dry-sump tanks, radiator, ect. will be included in an miscellaneous engine parts kit. This engine should be available for sale (about $15.00, maybe a little less) by the end of June or mid-July. Take care all and have a good evening. I am off to crash. Chris. |

Sounds great! Are most of the parts machined?

Chris,
Most of the master parts are machined metal but the kit will consist entirely of resin parts. The reason, because a lot of people that I know and that make model cars (or any model for that matter) hate trying to glue two different materials together (metal to resin, resin to styrene, ect.). I have experimented with some very thin resin pieces, under .005" thick (4 link brackets and such) and have found they are just as strong or stronger than the photo-etched parts. Besides, I don't have the capital to have photo-etched parts work farmed out ($150 per 8-1/2" x 11" sheet, min of 50 sheets must be ordered). If there were photo-etched parts included then that would also increase the cost to the consumer. The quality will be as good as anything you have seen and in some instances better, but at a reduced cost to you and others like you. Okay, I gotta take a break. I have already been in the shop working on bolt heads for a Ford 9" center section for about six hours. Later. |
