Cool Eldorado ETC Driver Side Window Quits

Hello,

I have a 1996 Eldorado ETC (Touring Coupe), This car only has 60,000 mi. on it. Today, when I rolled down tbe driver side window, it did not want to roll up, but did finally go up. I thought it might just be from non use. Later on I stopped at a car wash to insert money, rolled down the window and it stayed down untill I pulled back the inside rubber seal, then it rolled up. Could my window cylinder or be getting weak? I do not hear any gears skipping, and it goes smooth when it does engage. Does anyone know the procedure for removing the door panel to get to the inside parts?? I have replaced these on two buick park av. but not cadillac. Thanks ellis479

Sounds like the reg strap may be going, the procedure is about the same for most GM cars, just careful that you find all the retaining hardware to remove the door panel, most lift up to remove when everything is loose.

Sorry for not being clear, there is a plastic strip that is geared to the motor and regulator than runs the window up and down, when you get it apart it will become clearer what's what.

Re: Eldorado ETC Driver Side Window Quits

I just replaced my driver side window switch. It went down & not up, about 45 to 65$ easy replacement, just pull out the small panel in the door panel , it pops up & out & look it over & replace the switch. It all snaps out & in.
