98 Eldo Dash Insturment panel swap
I currently have a 98 Eldo. What i would like to do is take the current insturment cluster, and replace it with one from a 98 STS. Does anyone know if i would be albe to make this swap. thank you for your time.

Re: 98 Eldo Dash Insturment panel swap
I don't know if you can make that swap but the question in my mind is about the mileage.
Is the odometer part of the instrument panel to be swapped? If so, do you care about the possible discrepancy in the mileages of the two panels? Do you know how to set the proper mileage into the new panel? It could affect your vehicle title if the odometers aren't comparable in miles traveled. A flag could be set when you next register the auto and Carfax and/or Autocheck would pick that up. Consider that too when you make the decision to swap. |

Yes and no. The IPC will have to be re-programed. Something to do with Passkey and anti-theft.
I even tried to swap out a '96 STS IPC with another '96 STS IPC, and it would not allow you to start the car. Had to have the dealer (grrr) reprogram it to work.
