Brake booster vacuum problems

After replacing the engine, clutch and pressure plate. Please advise where the brake booster hooks up to create a vacuum, as I now have a very hard to push brake pedal, if indeed that is my problem. The pedal will not go down more than one half inch. Thanks to all for the help as I am learning.

What year and engine? There should be a large fitting on the intake manifold or at the base of the throttle body, depends on year and engine you have.

I have a 1997 Chevy S10, 2.2 engine. Would that be the same as you referenced in your quote?

Many thanks,
Ron

Thanks a million. My "SHADE TREE MECHANIC" had the booster hooked to the valve cover. I'm heading there now to check. Ron
