"Double Clutching and Granny Shifting"???

hey guys, i got another question...in the movie Fast and Furious after Vin Diesel wins the green Eclipse he says to Paul Walker,

"...granny shifting, not double clutching like you should..."

here's my question...

what the hell is double clutching and granny shifting anyways????

thanks

I believe "double clutching" is holding two hands on the wheel and "granny shifting" is taking it easy on the shifter while changing gears.

Not quite...but I'll give you an "A" for effort.

I wish they would get their shit straight in movies. why would anyone downshift in a race like that, its for autocrosses and shit like that, not drag racing. One day movies will stop talking out of their asses.

Double clutching

Okay, so double clutching is when you hit the clutch, bring it out of gear (in neutral), release the clutch, rev your engine, hit the clutch again, and stick it into gear. This saves your synchronizers but you'd only do it when you are downshifting. Using it in a 1/4 mile race would just waste time.

Re: "Double Clutching and Granny Shifting"???

That's just dumb when people do that. And who doesn't know what granny shifting is?
