06 Forenza Stabilizer link-to-strut removal???

Started what looks like a fairly simple strut assembly replacement and am unsure if the stabilizer link-to-strut rod is under pressure and if so how to relieve it. When I started loosening the top nut on the rod the bolt cocks like it is under pressure so here I am looking for advice before I get it out and not be able to get it back in. Anybody know how to remove this rod? Thanks.
