The camaro ss is a fast car, but it will get killed by a cobra! The cobra also looks cooler!

Ive only read the first 3 pages, so if anyones ever mentioned these points, sorry.

A: Cobra R, $75K, 12 sec. e.t.
B: Z06, $45K, 12 Sec. e.t.

'nuff said.

C:Orange Crush, Evan Smith, ring a bell? Sounds like a 12.89 to me.

D: The LS1 isnt a 350. Its a 346.6

The starter of the thread specifcally said NOT the Cobra R. And we are comparing the SS camaro NOT the Z06 vette.
Now the new SVT cobra will beat the SS camaro. But Ford never made the SVT while the LS1 F-bodies were in production so it's not logical comparison. So if you compare the older non SC'd Cobra the SS will kill it. End of discussion.

Come on now, the Cobra runs a mid 12 ET on its supercharger, and the LS1 SS ran anywhere from mid 13's to high 12's on planet earth - normally aspirated!

You strap a blower on the LS1 and force feed it half the PSI the Cobra's 32 valver is getting and I bet it would still edge out the Cobra on the strip.
Since the Mustang has a roots blower, you can't say that. There is no aftermarket roots for the LS1. Plus the blower on the Cobra is pushing like 6-8 non-intercooled PSI. And roots are the most inefficient.
If you run an intercooled centrifical on a GT it could stomp the crap out of the SVT Cobra.
So if you want to compare a closer engine to the LS1(2 valve) compare a SC'd GT engine. The GT has 9.4:1, the SS LS1 has 10.2:1. So you can boost the GT about 8 more PSI on pump gas. So boosting the SS 6 PSI should make about 450 HP. Boosting the GT engine 14 PSI should give it close to 500 HP. Now of course the LS1 is going to have more torque, so the GT needs that extra HP. This is a fair comparison in which in the 1/4 mile these two cars would be about the same times.

Re: Camaro SS VS Mustang Cobra

I have tested both the 02 SS the 02 WS6 and the 03 Cobra! Im going to buy the cobra, not because it out performs both pontiac and Gm, but because its a comfortable, and the stability on the Cobra as far more advance (For my likeing)! I have even drive the C6, and yes... im sorry to say the C6 is pretty Fast! But i would take the cobra over the vette anyday! Cobra needs little upgrades to put it withing 10s Range! Now in respons to teh SS and cobra bet off! I have a friend that owns a SLP SS and a 03 Cobra! Tested both at milan, same day same time... Cobra came out, by almost a sec! I dont dislike GM... infact.. i hope the Camara and Trans am come back.... to pick up some of the slack cause... i wana see more muscle cars out there then Rice burners... Mustang is holding it all down! And no thanks to the pontiac for that Amazing Peice of Crap (GTO)! SOrry to offend.. but Cobra is better in every aspect to me!
