Re: RB26DETT in Porsche 944?
I don't think it would fit. With the factory four cylinder and the radiator theres almost no room for anything else under the hood. On another note you need to find a way of getting that power to the rear end. The sock transmission wont handle the power a RB26DETT can make, and if you tried to use the Nissan transmission that and the engine wont fit under the hood.

Re: RB26DETT in Porsche 944?
the engine might fit, i own a 924, and i know the 944 has a conversion for a ls1 engine, that is a much bigger engine than the skyline engine, the only two problems, is the trans, and the turbos take a lot of space. y not for that money, just rebuild ur 944 engine to handl more power, and put turbos on that

Re: RB26DETT in Porsche 944?
yea the stock turbo block can handle some decent power. But if its power you crave swap in an LS1 or LS2

Re: RB26DETT in Porsche 944?
ls1 is a chevrolet engine, not sure if it's a camaro v8 or a vette v8, and it's all american muscle, means it's na but u could get it from chevrolet, but to make life easier, there is a company that i deal with called auto atlanta, they have all the possible conversions that are common practice, from turbo's to the ls1. regarding the rb26dett, i know it's a skyline engine, and i know a lot about skylines, i doubt in any way that u can fit a straight 6 into a 944 engine bay, then to ad the turbos, i doubt it's phyically possible. but if ur willing to spend the money on importing the engine, getting the car(944) to meet emmisions, then y not modify the chassis of the 944, and put a caymen engine in it. i also posses a great book, in it they actually mention that when porsche first came out with the 928 and 924, they built a 928 clone that could b setup in all 3 version, rear, mid, and front engine.
to answer the ? rb26dett, good idea, but not worth it, ls1, u'll get 350hp/350tq, so yea, better get a 968, 3.0 4cyl, 300hp |

Re: RB26DETT in Porsche 944?
www.autoatlanta.com the prices arent listed, but they have to tell u the price b4 u commit to buying it. thats probably the best place. ebay might have em, but i couldnt tell u if the whole kit come on there
the kit comes with(from autoatlanta) ignition coil mount, brake master cyl mount and pushrod, conversion pilot bearing, cross member and sway bar drop kit, ls1 oil filter with lines and mount, ls1 race oil pan and pick up, uprights, billit block plates, rubber isolaters, and hardwaer, 12" ls1 clutch with porsche center spline, mounting hardwear, and all the other goodies and the engine is from a camaro or firebird. it states over 300hp and 350tq |
