Re: Honda XL175 kick starter shaft
you mean the shaft that goes into the engine is broken off?
Try your Honda motorcycle dealer first. Honda is pretty good at supplying parts for their older bikes. If that does not work, try searching the web for a parts bike or engine. You may be able to find a broken/seized engine for a few bucks. You could also try removing the side cover and removing the shaft. A good machine shop may be able to fabricate a new shaft or make and weld a splined end piece on to the old one. |

Re: Honda XL175 kick starter shaft
You're out of luck on the kickstart shafts. The XL175 is notorious for breaking them and replacements have been obsolete for years. Your only bet is the used or nos market and even then, expect to PAY. Someone just told me that one ended on Ebay north of the $250 mark.

Re: Honda XL175 kick starter shaft
Thanks for the replies.Like speed stated ,I was unable to get one from Honda.
I welded a nut on the stub that was still sticking out and use a breaker bar and a socket to start it.I know it is a hack way to do it but it works fine.We only have 3 acres for my kids to ride on so it is no big deal to restart it for them. I have been watching ebay to see if one pops up.It,s a great running bike. Thanks again. |
