Exhaust System Popping/Snaping When Hot

hi this is my first time on this forum. I also own a 04 denali xl and it pings and pops. i thought that was normal. (metal expands and contracts with heat and when it cools down). the one noise that i do get is like an exhaust leak comeing from the header. Does anyone els experience this noise? Anther thing that i would like to know is how did the 2005 denali's get and extra 10 horses and 10 extra fpt.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if GM tinkered with the fuel maps/tables a bit...

Which Corsa system as some dealers replacing the stock exhaust with?

Any updates on this issue? I don't want to waste any time with the dealer if there is no fix yet.

I went to the dealer and complained...nothing. I called GMC customer service...nothing. They called me back and offered me free oil changes/tire rotations for 2 yrs, so I took that. Still they will not fix the exhaust. I finally broke down and purchased a flowmaster 50 series muffler. It's great!!!! No noise, better performance and gas mileage.

I brought it in to the dealer and they ordered some straps. It actually appears to have fixed the loud popping. You can still hear them a little, but nothing like it was.

We will see how long the fix lasts.

According to TSB, ID# 1405265 this is caused by water getting trapped between the shell layers of the muffler.

GMC says there is currently no fix for this problem !!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem on a 2003 Suburban. It was in four times tothe dealer to be repaired and they did not fix it. We then chaged the complaint to say it was a rattle rather than a pop. The dealer put a new muffler on it today. I also called Chevrolet Customer Service and complained. It has not popped since I got the new muffler.

I think the only fix is going with a different muffler. I have and 04 Denali and it used to always ping after I parked it after a long drive. I brought it in to the dealer 2 times for the pinging and they just told me they are all like that its a design flaw.

I upgraded my exhaust to a Corsa touring and haven't heard a ping since.

I agree with the new muffler. The service man said they have not had additional complaints after they replaced the muffler.

How does the Corsa sound at 55-65 mph? How about at hard acceleration?
