ok the question is when u re3moved ur stock deck did the unit just plug and play with the existing harnress ....or did u have to cut and hardwire?

one more question is since mine is currently the six disk indash system and will be removed .....what changer can i hook up to this unit?

thanks for any help!!
There is no cutting of factory wiring required. It is basically plug and play. You must add the GPS antenna which is very easy to do and mounts inside the dash. My truck has the six disc changer installed in the lower part of the dash (pic below) seperate from the stock radio. So the Nav radio acts as the controller for the changer and the cd slot on the nav radio is for the nav map disc that I leave in all the time. You can play music cd's with the single player on the nav unit but the nav map cd must be removed and the nav feature will not work. The nav unit will work with XM, Bose, Onstar, and steering wheel controls without any problem, however I cannot guarantee anything. I have a friend who installed this unit in his 03 silverado and it works fine. The main problem you will face is losing the six disc changer option which is nice to have.

NO, the xm module is seperate from the head unit and will still work with the new radio.

That is correct. You just plug the new nav unit in and everything should work as usual. The only thing that would need reprogramming is the Nav unit.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

You will love it, especially since it is factory and does not look out of place and will work with everything you already have in place.

Hey u guys spoke of the tech 2 tool to program...
do u think i will have to do that if the unit is brand new.....mike at caddi said just plug in drive for a little while and the unit will calibrate after a few min.

NO, if the unit is brand new you will not need to have it reset or calibrated by a GM tech.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

Yeah, I bought the an escalade changer too but I cannot find the part # for the cable and most of the units are not sold with the cable. I wonder why?

By the way, a diagram of the '03 escalade is what helped me find the part # for the gps antenna.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

This doesn't make any sense. You get no audio from playing cds, fm and xm radio, but you get audio from the voice prompts? That is weird. Also tells me that the amp works with the nav unit.

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

The Only Thing That Ican Think Of Other Than The Amp Not Being Compatible Is The Mute Button On The Steering Wheel Causing Some Sort Of Interference ......if I Tap It There Is A Quarter Sec Of Audio From Cds And Radio....but Once Again Shot In The Dark

Re: 2003 Yukon Denali Navigation Radio

Something is causing the unit to continously mute the audio for music and the only thing I can think of is the onstar. I'm thinking that's causing the conflict. And if it is, that is odd since copout has onstar in his Yukon Denali. Hmmm.
