99 Alero
Hello All, I purhchased my car in 99 . Will be 9 years old this year, recenty when the car is at a light or slowed down in speed. It's jerking and shaking. has cut off on mea few times while I'm not moving. The battery light comes on when this happens. My father thinks it needs maybe a tune up or some wiring done. Please help!

Re: 99 Alero
I have never had a tune up.. I know that's terrible..My Dad think spark plugs & wiring & a tune up. My husband thinks fuel filter. My battery lights comes on when it stops on me. Would I need a new battery? This car is my baby. It has been good to me. It has never quit on me.

Re: 99 Alero
Well to sleep better have the battery load tested at an auto parts. Most do it and its free.
lets see 9 years old I'd say you have at least 100k miles on it. So yea you need a tune up. Ignition wires, plugs, pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter, and I'm probably forgetting something. You probably have coil pacs so no need for dist cap/rotor. I'd start there and that should get you fixed up. My guess is the plugs are worn to a nub. |

Re: 99 Alero
Its easy to forget about these things when its running good. My 98 Pontiac didn't get plugs until 145k and thats cause they were a PITA to change.
