Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
Hello Dan
What a bummer - has happened to me on a few occasions - AAAghhh is a good response. MFH will send you spare parts - I'm certain. Since starting I have found 2 pieces missing from front suspension - a few words shouted not starting with A, I can tell you. All will turn out well for us both in short time. With regards to wheel nuts - all T series ferrari had same wheels - I have been looking at Hobby Design turned wheels which have separate nuts - If I can make them fit - they will look better on display with 1 or 2 removed. Any thoughts ? William Happy New Year |

Hi William, coincidentally I had thought about using the HD wheel nuts. Check out my pics below.(HD on left MFH on right) Whilst they could be used if the car was displayed with the wheels off, the MFH ones just look so much more accurate. The threaded shaft on the Hobby Design parts is too small in diameter. Incidentally if anyone plans to use the HD T-series wheel set, bear in mind that they are made from stainless steel instead of aluminium and will be virtually impossible to drill or add wheel weights or valve stems. They will also be very heavy hanging off each corner of Hasegawas plastic kit. Regards, Dan

Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
Just to let you all know that I haven't shelved this project while I wait for the replacement parts.
I spent a few hours at the bench this weekend and I have almost completed the engine, just a bit more wiring and plumbing and the battery clamp left to do. I have also prepped all of the plastic parts including filling the most visible ejector pin marks, hopefully I can them them all in primer tomorrow. Regards, Dan

Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
The 312T4 is back on the bench at last.
I finally managed to order the replacement suspension parts, which arrived in the post today, so now there is no excuse not to finish it I have spent the evening cleaning up more white metal parts and have made a start on the brakes. Hopefully I'll have some REAL progress pics soon. Regards, Dan

Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
Minor update.
I finished the front and rear brake assemblies last night. I first assembled the PE rotors and mounted them in my dremel so I could sand the concentric circles into their faces before adding them to the hubs and scoops. They are probably a bit too shiny now and might benefit from a coat of Tamiya smoke, but I think they look pretty neat. Regards, Dan

Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, it really is a pink 312T4.
I have just been trying out Tamiya's new pink primer.... I don't know if it will actually look any different to using my usal white primer, but this is apparently how Ferrari do/did the real paint jobs ?. Regardless, This stuff is great, it covers easily and lays down absolutely smooth straight out of the can. Its a great option for those of us restricted to using spray cans only. Regards, Dan

Re: MFH 1/20 Ferrari 312T4 Hybrid kit WIP
I pulled this one back out of storage recently in an attempt to try to finish it.
Paint and decals are pretty much done, mostly just final assembly left now. Regards, Dan
