Hood removal and replacement 2006
Anyone have any experience removing and replacing the hood? Mine is so rusted out. I found a replacement hood. It appears easy enough with the 2 bolts on each side. Any hidden surprises or suggestions?

Yes, it is very easy. Since you haven't done it before I would recommend having a second person to hold it up as you unscrew the bolts so it won't fall on your head. Also, put a folded towel as padding under each corner so they don't get scratched or crack the windshield as you loosen it up and/ or put the new one in place.
Once you have the new one in place, don't tighten the bolts all the way. Just tight enough so it won't move on its own, but loose enough so it can be nudged into alignment. Close the hood slowly and see how it aligns. Nudge it as necessary. You may also have to adjust the striker too. |

Re: Hood removal and replacement 2006
Completed the hood replacement with no problems. Very simple to do. After getting a quote from the body shop for around $800, I went online and found a company right in my area that sells painted parts. Got the hood for $286 fully painted. Since the place was close by, I was able to pick up so there was no shipping. A savings of over $500.
