Battery Charge goof!
2005 Buick Century battery measured 10.47 V. I hooked up an old 4 amp charger BUT, hooked up the battery cables wrong for about 30 sec. before I realizes the goof & reversed the cables to correct the hook up.
My question is: is there a possibility I damaged any of the electronics in the car or are there built in safeguards to protect the electronics? Right now it seems to be charging normally with the correct cable hookup. |

Re: Battery Charge goof!
In short (pun intended) the 4A capacity of the charger could not possibly overcome the 100's of amps the battery can deliver in 30 seconds. At worst the battery voltage may have been dropped by a couple tenths, so no reverse polarity was ever applied to the vehicle chassis wiring/electronics. You're fortunate the charger did not smoke.
