Re: Supercharger
Paxton?
An electric supper charger just cant be large enough to do more than 5 HP Max at the bottom end and almost nothing at high RPM. That is not enough to get a seat of the pants feel out of the darn thing. The current draw would be so high you would have to have an alternator and electric motor the size of the engine to power the blower. Pumping air is a taxing endeavor at best. In a top fuel drag car, the Hp requirement to run the blower is around 750 HP. For that 3.1 you are still talking about a hefty 15-30 Hp at 5000 RPM. (Ever see a 15 HP 12 volt electric motor? It is the size of your car engine) I still don’t know why you don’t opt for an engine swap. There is no replacement for displacement. How are your shade tree engineering skills? You can stick a Paxton on just about anything if you can build your own “kit”. You could under drive the Paxton LS (Little Shit) By the time you finish with that, your are looking at $4K But! Has your blower been beat by the guy down the street with nitrous under his seat? I know that the belt noise is kinda cool at first but it does get on your nerves after a while. A $400 35-75 Hp NOS bump kit will make you go “Holley Christina” |

Re: Supercharger
If you do anything with those old GM V6's its like throwing money in the trash. You would get the same hp tq result if you just bought a 2nd generation 3800 powered W-body. Which is alot more refined than the old body styles. And for cheap too I've seen decent intrigues impalas regals grand prixs for under 2500.
