cheap interior plastic material, bad fuel economy, likes to miss a lot especially #3 and #4 on V6, too much body roll on turns, can't have wider tires than 215 without spacers and other mods, water leaks, but hey we get what we pay

I'd say poor handling, and lack of performance. Otherwise the car was great ( other then my cars specific issues) Gas mileage was awesome, the appearance I liked inside and out. It was pretty reliable or at least despite my problems mine never broke down.

Re: What's Your Dislikes about your Grand Am ??

I put poor handling, I <3 corners that lean in on turns

Yea for a v6 you'd expect more power out of it, I'm sure with a better motor design you could squeeze more power & gas mileage. I've always liked the look, not 4door look but the front of a 99-05 GT is sick, headlights are aggressive enough. It's trunk and rear tho I relate it to a girl's fat ass lol, lots of junk in that trunk.

I cant complain too much about power and gas mileage tho... I know my mileage is down, and I want more power!

And I hate the fact that one by one things start to not work.. like how my ALL my power windows died one by one. I have an AC Clutch problem at the moment, rattles non-stop, and my exhaust was poorly put on so it rattles on the frame in the rear... but once I go its out of the question... flowmaster 80 series ftw!

LACK OF STANDARD TRANSMISSION!

Re: What's Your Dislikes about your Grand Am ??

Yeah lack of power is always a concern of mine.
For a V6 these engines were lacking HP. I mean Toyota has a I4 with over 200hp with no boost.

Remember though, this is a car made and designed for chicks and women going to school , work or shoppin, not gear heads like us.
But with a little work you can make some nice HP gains.

I do think the older models GA's, 96-98, handled better.
My GT seems to handle good but it will slide the rearend around if youre going to fast. My SE handles about the same but Ive swapped GT suspension parts, like the bigger sway bars.

As far as fuel economey, I cant complain. I have V8 autos and they all suck the gas and still have little or no power.

Well you all did hear about GM dropping the Pontiac line ??

Its a real sad week in America folks when a company drops the life lines that's made them the money over the years. Just cutting thier own throats if you ask me.
Should have dropped Buick , and those damn Chevy's.

I still am having trouble picking just that one thing though I dont like about them. I guess maintance costs overall is high on some models, depending on which motor and trans.

Re: What's Your Dislikes about your Grand Am ??

I had a lot of issue's with the driver’s side door panel. They designed it out after 99 but I had 4 on the car before sheet metal screws fixed the issue. The passenger side was always fine. The car does lack a balance being front wheel drive I would expect as much but the tires always stuck to the road. I would have liked a stick in 99 Auto was all they had. I will say this however as of today I have 192,000 miles on it original motor and trans. I have had one tune up at 130,000 miles the mileage and the power is the same as the day I bought it. I average about 25 miles a gallon more if all highway. Pontiac always had good looking car's now they are going to be killed off because of politics. The G6 was going to be my next car now......

Re: What's Your Dislikes about your Grand Am ??

Yes a manual trans in the V6 would have been awesome !!!

I would also agree the car isnt balanced very well, front to rear.
The second time I put my SE on a two post lift, it about fell off.

I figure over the next year Pontiac prices will start to fall rapidly. I'd like to pick up a G6 or a GXP, something with a boosted engine!

Re: What's Your Dislikes about your Grand Am ??

I realy dont see machanical parts being a problem for 8-10 years down the road. Hell GM might not even be around then.

Most of our parts, suspension, drivetrain, emissions, also are used on Chevy and Buicks. But Im sure the amount of other parts, inside bezels, trims/moldings, GM will eventualy run out of stock.
But who buys from them when you can find them on fleabay, or some other web outlet, for a tenth of the cost.

I did see a shortage a few years back on the GM LI gaskets. That's when I looked at the fel pro sets. Cheaper and last just as long. Plus Federal mogul stands behind thier products a little better then the dealers.
More then once Ive called Federal mogul, and got a real human on the phone, and had answers within 5 minutes.

If I feel a shortage, I'll be sure to hord stock up on the usual essentials.
