2003 Cavalier Mysterious Engine Malfunction

Hello,

My manual transmission Cavalier has an issue where the engine will suddenly lose all power. 99% of the time times this occurs it is when I am at a higher throttle position (25% or higher) at relatively low RPM. Sometimes it will happen at higher RPM. Sometimes it happens immediately when the engine starts.

When deactivation occurs, the engine immediately loses all power. If I push the clutch in the engine will die unless I keep giving it lots of throttle. It almost feels like it's running on one cylinder or something.

To make the car run normally again, all I have to do is reset the electronics by turning the key back one click and then immediately forward again, effectively bump starting the car while rolling. If this problem occurs while driving, I simply leave the car in gear, turn the key back one click, and turn it forward again. Typically the car immediately runs normally again. Obviously this poses a safety hazard. I'm pretty good about not triggering this issue unintentionally by controlling the throttle and RPM.

Current engine codes are P0304 (engine misfire detected) and P0440 (EVAPs issue).

WHAT I HAVE TRIED
I replaced the crankshaft position sensor on advice that bad sensor values might be triggering "limp mode" in the ECU. This had no effect.

I also replaced the fuel injectors after reading that they were related to a similar issue in a Mini Cooper. Again, no effect.

My only hunch so far is that this might be the ECU getting shorted out somehow, but I'm really at a loss in terms of diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Thank you so much for any help.
