Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Thats no problem to cut the wax with a normal cutter. The parts who are standing high are not in the way to make the mold.
I can cut them off,but i dont need so. I´m was a bit afraid to use too much heat because of the silicon.I dont wont to destroy the mold. Christian |

At the beginning of this build,i thought i make 2 or 3 bodys with fiberglass. But now i got a lot of question from guys who want to have a body. So i deceided against doing the more work for a fiberglass body. But for myself,i want to make at least one fiberglass body.Only for testing and to look how it works.I got already fiberglass and the right resin at home. But it takes a lot more time to make a body without bubbles in the fiberglass. But we see, maybe i will make some of that when everything works with the mold? Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hi,
today i make the first copy of the capri. i´m not 100% happy with it. I destroyed the hood when i get the body out of the mold. But this was my fault and not the one from the mold. Here you can see the crack, but also the fine details of the air intake. At the back there are some bubbles.I think about a solution of less bubbles in the next copies. This is the inner core of the body. I want to put them inside, use resin and let them dry. After that i want to put them out first. But i forgot that step at the first attempt. The silicon was glue dth ethe inner core and dont get them out.So i had to put out the outer body first and at this step i cracked the body. So i remove the silicon from the inner core and want to make another copy. But now the silicon want stick to the core. The simply fall down because of his own weight! I try to fix it with tape, but that dosent worked. I must think now how i can change this mistake? kind regards Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
how about sticking the core and inner mould together with vaseline (petrolium jelly) or silicon mould release paste, the suction will probably be enough to hold them together long enough to pour the resin, but would release easily enough to pull them apart. to stop cross contamination of the resin you would have to be very careful.

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
Hi,
finally its done! I got the body ready for use. Here is a pic of the modified inner core. Now its made of resin until silicon. And here with the body v.2 A look at the inside of the body. I changed the shape of the inner body,so now its a bevel of mold to put it easily out. The weight is about 650g.I also improved the thickness of some parts of the walls and changed the look of the wheel houses. At the first version there was a lot of sanding needed. Now i made it more like the final shape of the car. At the roof are some small sinks, but nothing big. Some bubble at the back of the car,but also nothing spectacular. I can´t resist to put the wheels and the rear spoiler onto the car. It look quiet good in my eyes.I'm really proud of the result. Next step will be the windows and the grill.I will put them out. Thanks for watching! Christian |

Re: Zakspeed Turbo Capri 1/12 Scratch
So,just need some layer of clearcoat and the first is ready!!
I think it looks good right now.Maybe the decals must be 3-4% bigger print. meanwhile i changed the mold again a bit. Now i got less wall thickness at the roof and the doors. Christian |
