Talk about ridiculous! I have a 2001 CLK430, with around 20k miles. The other day I was driving with my daughter when she handed me her otter pop (frozen drink in a plastic package) about what amounts to a tablespoon of liquid dripped out onto my gear shifter at the P (park)setting. About 3 minutes later my transmission shifted down to 2nd gear and ultimatly I could not shift into park. I could not believe that my tranny was going at 20k miles and really did not associate the spilled liquid to the failure . Well today the dealership told me that it was this tiny amount of liquid that seized this $60,000 car. UNBELIEVABLE. Apparantly it seeped into a module that controls the tranny. You would think that they would protect this "module". Has anyone run into this problem? If so please let me know. I am taking this to the highest level I can at MBUSA. I am still in disbelief that the dealership told me that this happens every so often without blinking. The should be ashamed!
