Anti-roll bar tie rod bushes
Dear all,
My 1993 espace has just failed the mot on excessive wear in the tie rod rubber at end of the anti-roll bar. I went to my local motor factors today and they do not sell this part. On closer inspection this evening it appears that the assembly is press fitted on to the anti-roll bar and I couldn't remove this from the car. Help!!! Has anyone had to renew these before? I shall try and visit a Renault parts centre tommorow to consider my options, as it may be the end of the road. |

Re: Anti-roll bar tie rod bushes
You have probably worked it out by now but:
1. Renault only sell the complete link with rubber bushes at each end. 2. If you clean up the end of the antiroll bar you should see that there is a large dished washer on either side of the bush. Look at the end of the antiroll bar and you will see that there are 2 dimples sticking up at 180 degrees to each other, then comes a thinish split ring of metal which goes between the dimple and the outer washer to hold the washer loosley in place. You have to prize the split ring off over the dimples. Then you will see the washer has 2 cut outs on its inner diameter edge. Line up the cutouts with the dimples and washer will slide off end of roll bar so link can now be removed. If enough people contact super flex polyurethane bush manufacturers www.superflex.co.uk I am sure they would make suitable bushes to press into our old links and make renewal a more economic process! I recon a 'cotton reel bush would do the trick at the roll bar end. |
