2008 forrester

What is the mileage when a timing belt change becomes nessecery on my 2008 forester. Anybody do it much later?....anybody have the belt brake?

Why did Subaru go with a timing belt instead of a timing chain? It seems crazy to me to use a belt and possibly have a problem where as a chain would be more reliable and elimanate the chance of a belt failure and SAVE the cost of a replacement! Any comment would be appriciated!

Thanks
