Hello,
I've got a 95 Civic DX Coupe. It's got A/C which was serviced a couple years ago. I replaced a leaky hose and had the system charged. This summer I wanted to run the A/C but it wouldn't come on. When I press the button on the dash, the fan for the condenser comes on, but the compressor clutch doesn't engage.
I've checked the sensor that bolts to the compressor (I can't remember what it's called) and I've checked most of the physical components and all seems well. I bypassed each of the relays, and swapped them and both are confirmed to be in good working order.
While checking the wires for breaks, I noticed when I grounded the wire heading from the relay to the ECU, the clutch engages and the whole system works. I understand the Honda system works on a negative grounding system or something and so this should make sense. Any thoughts on where I should look next to see what's wrong and get it working? Is my ECU giving me the issue or is it something else? Can I simply ground the wire to the body and bypass whatever might be failing (though I'm not keen on that idea).
It's been a long while since I've worked on it so I can't remember everything I did or checked, but considering the heat wave we're in the middle of it might be nice to get the A/C back up and running.
Thanks
