You can say all you want but that doesn't mean shit, still waiting for a reply, how long ago did I ask that?? hm.....I can recite them right away. There's another thread where a guy is wondering how much power the first RT/10's had, MAYBE he can help him, if he doesn't know well then I do.

The team was Robert A. Lutz, Tom Gale (Designer), and Francois Casting (engineer). Caroll Shelby also played a rule in the production of the first Viper.
OK, Hot Shot, What was the only year the Viper GTS and RT/10 had different Horsepower ratings? Should be an easy one.

Good job, took long enough, where'd ya find the answer?? btw, it is Castaing not Casting. Carroll did not only play a role, he helped a lot on the Viper's design, take a close look at a GTS and a Daytona Cobra Coupe, they are VERY similar.
The year they had different power ratings was the first year the GTS came out, 96. RT/10's had 415 hp, bumped up from 400, and the GTS of course had 450.

By the way, Shelby had nothing to do with the GTS. He pulled out early in the RT/10 prototype stages because of his heart problems. Peter Brock was was very involved with Lutz, Gale and Castaing on the GTS. He was the designed of the original Cobra Daytona Coupe. The GTS is a cross between the concept of the Cobra Daytona and the Ferrari 250 GTO. If you look at the profile, you can see GTO all over the GTS. Now we have Toyota Camry designers doing the Vipers. What in the heck happened?

Nothing happened for the worse, after seeing a silver and red SRT-10 up close they look damn good. I take everything I said back about them not looking very fierce compared to the older styling. However I still like the GTS best of all, I'd be interested to see a hard top version of the new Viper.

No-one has answered where the engine came from, but I can only manage a partial answer;
I don't know exactly which one, but I know they took it from a truck, recast the block in Aluminium to reduce the weight, then wedged the result into that GORGEOUS concept car; after this my knowledge fails me & I have to admit defeat |
