service vehicle soon- no gauge backlight, tail lights, fog lights
I had the service vehicle soon light come on the other day and it took out the gauge back lights, fog lights, and tail lights. Also, when I used to lock and unlock the car with the remote the exterior lights would flash, now they don't. I check all headlights and tail lights and none of them are burnt out. Any suggestions?

I'd check your fuses for the headlights/tail lights and thier related relays.
It could be your BCM also, but something would hav caused this to happen they dont just blow out(the body control module). You didnt say what year and engine your GA is, so thats about all I can say right now.

Re: service vehicle soon- no gauge backlight, tail lights, fog lights
just got back from autozone, checked all the relays and they plugged in the OBD tester, no codes showed up. Does anyone know where I can have the other computer tested? The guy said something about the body controller or something that had to do with all the lights and safety stuff. Anyone have any ideas on what wrong?

Re: service vehicle soon- no gauge backlight, tail lights, fog lights
Did you check the fuse box under the hood, the big maxi fuses ?
The SVS light indicates theirs something wrong , probly the Zones scanner wasnt able to read the code. The BCM can only be checked by at stealership. Also did you open up the rear tail light housing? Did you notice any rust or corrosion? They are known to get wet and corrode and short things out, which will throw a svs light and a code.

the dealership wants frickin $90 to check the BCM and just tell me whats wrong, would like to NOT go that route. opened up the rear tail light housing, all bulbs were good and nothing looked corroded. What would cause all three malfunctions (fog lights, gauges, and tail lights)? |

Re: service vehicle soon- no gauge backlight, tail lights, fog lights
Well lets go through what fuses you might hav missed.
Driverside BFC Batt, PCM ACC, stop lamps Passengerside INST LPS, INT LPS Under the Hood MAXI fuses #3, #4 interior lighting, Mini fuses #37 AC coditiong/BFCM(BCM), #39 PCM, #44 PCM and I think thats all I can think of. Your 2001 might hav different locations or #'s but they will say what they are for on the inside of lid. look for anything that says BCM or interior lighting. Also thier is a Fog light relay in the passenger side FB. Heres a copy of the exterior lighting wiring diagram. Might ask if that $90 covers a full diagnostic scan(testing the whole OBDII system) with a report, not just checking the BCM. Also You might call other shops and see if they can scan for Body codes, thats most likly why the SVS is illuminated. Hope that helped !

Re: service vehicle soon- no gauge backlight, tail lights, fog lights
thanks, I will recheck all the fuses again...and then start calling shops. the $90 was only checking the BCM
I HATE not being able to fix stuff by myself |
