Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Everytime I hit a bump inthe raod the passenger rear sounds like I have no suspension. I have had it into a shop and they were not sure what it is. It acts like the shock is bad but I only have 36000 miles on the rig

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
For my part I have a 2002 with 68,000 kms and my chocks are to be change I guess.
I think to buy thoses with spring around to help for more confort in the back and change the front too. Is your suspension on your van is an air suspension ? |

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
On my sv6 I don't have the independent suspension on the rear end i have the single bar going across with the air shocks. I changed those out for new ones. Would you have anymore solutions?

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Exactly what kind of noise? Does it happen over large or small bumps? Parking lot maneuvers?

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Noise is hard to describe. Like a clanging sound drivers rear. I just looked under the car spare tire was tight and I tugged and pulled on everything while I had it jacked up. Nothing was loose.

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Have had problems with the bushings where the mount bolts go through the axle and mount to frame. You probably will not see anything wrong with them, but that is likley the problem. The bushings are servicable.

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Couldn't find it on that link, but I was using my phone so that may have been why. I did find it on rockauto.com, Moog part #k200343. They did not have a picture, but the description is correct. 10.00 for the part. Noises are very difficult to diag without hearing it myself, but I have run into several of these when I couldn't find anything else wrong. Hope this helps!
Ok, got on my laptop, that illustration does not show the bushing. They are located at the piviot points of the axle assy. GM does service them, you may need to look at a dealer parts catalog. |

If you're gonna do one, do them both.

Re: Rear suspension noise 2006 Montana SV6
Can you recreate the noise by bouncing the rear end?
If no, apply ebrake, jack up one rear wheel at a time.....now grab wheel and try to rotate forward and backward quickly.....if you hear a clunk, it's the upper bushing in the knuckle assembly.... |
