Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
I wanted to build the f50gt racer that never raced. Car was the grandma of Fxx and Fxxk.
Think the GT is much intersting than f50 standard street supercar. I dunno really if car freaks understood properly this ferrari. Those were amazing vehicles really, and ultra technological for their time. The GT was even more, and I love gt racers..so... For my project I will use the old revell kit, cause it has much thicker plastics than tamiya model. If you want to do the same you can also use japanese model, overall much nicer and precise than 1995 revell kit. They still call the car as F130 on the instruction sheet. This model was made by APM back in time and become quite pricey today. Looking at the car anyway I think is a quite easy conversion every modeller inside here can absolutely try. original box: This will be a quite quick time build, lets just look the works done.. many parts in revell model are reverred probably to the prototype of the f50 (named indeed f130) so many details are incorrect as door cut and cap filler position. Not a big issue in my conversion cause the racer was different in so many little parts from the production luxury vehicle

Re: Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
Very interesting project, it's one of my favorite car !
Before APM, Museum Collection, MSM Creation and Scale Production (not 100% sure), made this car at 1/24 scale. There was also a built up resin model by Fujimi. |

Great start! I would love to do this after I finish my F50XX concept. What wheels are you going to use?

Re: Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
LOL Johan, after I found ROMA in Gotland I will not be surprised to find Skellefeå in Alabama...
The wheels I will make by my own, using some leftover tyres from tamiya supergt nsx . check anyway aoshima wheels cause they have some similar ones (not willing to buy so much extra stuff for this quick project really..and at today I still miss the rear wing , LOL) Time to close and move the front brake ducts in the different gt position, enlarge the main air intake and start enlarge the front fenders. this is probably the nicest part of the conversion for me. as usual I use plasticard 3mm thick.

Re: Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
progress
note if you are using this old revell kit, they mistake the upper angle of the side windows, probably cause they still referred to first images of the f50. the upper top corner must be different but is a easy work to do

Re: Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
thanks a lot Bob. This is car I like very much, specially its shape and the being so different and anyway similar to her street luxury sister.I will just finish her as curbside. No willing to make any full open model here. Just want to see her with that GT modified shape

Re: Ferrari F50 GT - 1/24
some paint added. In glossy red everything becomes nicer than grey primer...
tamiya x7 plus gunze gloss and 3 tamiya compounds.
