Battery won't charge
My battery on my 88 Samurai will not charge thru the alternator. I have replaced the alternator/Voltage regulator, checked all wiring required by service amnual and nothing checks out bad. In the owners manual it states, "If your battery does not charge for no spicific reason, contact your authorized repair facility". Can anyone give me any ideas?

Re: Battery won't charge
have you done a voltage check from you alternator to the ,
maybe your battery is dead or you have a bad ground allso if you have a stero running and a amp or kc light , the littel 40 amp alternator will not keep you battery charged becuase you are drawing to many amps -ben |

Re: Battery won't charge
Switch to thicker positive and negative main wires, the thin ones have to much resistance if your running a lot of electrical equipment, but the bigger alt is also agreat idea and if you ever plan on a dual battery system it's essential. Check all your grounds first though.

Re: Battery won't charge
I put a volt gauge on my zuk and when the gauge showed a no charge or reading around just 12 it was always because the belt wasn't tight enuff. some how the belt would loosen up on me over a peiod of time. so I would have to adjust the tension on the alt. hoe that helps.
p.s. I had a 88 1/2 brand new back then for about 10 yrs and a took that thing apart from front to back. what a great machine those were. I sure do miss mine. it had a 4 inch calmini lift with 33' tires and a header with no cat. funny thing now is my bro just bought a 88 off ebay that has only 9000 miles on it. jealous lol |

Re: Battery won't charge
If alternator id good then check connections, clean off and use wire brush. Check battery water. Check the connection of cables.
May be there is any problem in one of them. marksoldtowne
