Bumper

Ok, well here it goes...
I was involved in a minor vehicular accident and in the end I have to pay for someones bumper, it was a Ford Taurus mid 90s id say, the rear bumper was pretty wrecked, cracked right through....
Anyone know how much it will cost to replace a rear bumper?
Thanks

Re: Bumper

U could save a bunch of money by getting a used bumper either through ebay or a junkyard. You need to know the year though. Used bumper should be rather cheap - $50-$100 then paint and install. Run a search on Google.

Another thing is that if you hit hard enough to ruin the bumper cover that bad the actual bumper underneath may be damaged, and if that isn't replaced it could be a major safety issue if the person is rear ended again in that car.

Re: Bumper

Are you paying for his bumper replacement out of your pocket, or is your insurance paying for it? I"m not sure how the laws differ in Canada, but I think you can ask the owner to get at least 2 or more estimates for repair. If you end up going to court over this matter, I have even seen judges use estimates presented to them by the defendants in consideration with the plaintiffs own estimates, so that is something you might want to look into. But if your insurance company is dealing with the matter, then you pretty much have everything covered ,

The lowest price you could see online for second hand Ford bumpers would be $30 up to $300 max. Though restoration for second hands would not cost you much. The $600 dollars would actually be the whole cost of car as of the recent time.
