I've been driving my 5 speed maxima every day for about 75 miles per day for 2 years and i will NEVER own an automatic in my life. It becomes so mechanical after a while that you'll miss it if you don't have it. my dad has a 93 gxe auto and when i drive it all i can think about is getting in my car and downshifting from 5th gear to 3rd at 50 mph and nailing 85mph 2-3 seconds later.

not to mention that an automatic tranny adds 300-400 lbs to your car.
i'm not trying to start a war between 5 speed and auto. i personally will only go 5 speed but auto has its benefits. like traffic jams and smoking while driving:bonghitte

It all really boils down to preference.

I own an Auto, but would rather have the manual, but not so much that I'm going to do the swap. I think I'll just live with the auto and get the VB mod when I get enough $$$.

Stick

Hey, a stick shift is only better, if u are good at shifting, if you aren't great at shifting, an auto is better because it hits the hp points better, the scratch can possibly be removed easily. I work at an autobody shop, and when my old car (Z24 RIP) was keyed last year, i took it work work, and buffed it, then washed it and waxed it and there was no more scratch. If you have an friends that work at a body shop, you should ask one of them.

all my past cars where manual but my maxima is auto , i missed manuals but i think i ll stay with auto its more practical f u know what i mean and u r not racing 24 x 7 r u , u still can make up for the difference by getting a bulletproof tranny and add to it the vb+after market tcu[tranny computer] which is alot faster than the stock-shiftronic manual shifting kit from level10 transmissions------- with this u r even faster than manual,, thats f u r lokking for speed and comfort,,,,, btw the tcu is from jwt i think, f u do the swap it might cost u the same,,,,goodluck bud

well; it depends on how much u'll pay for the manual . f u get a used one it will cost u 1000 to 1500 for the tranny and add another 600 for clutch and pedals and the other stuff u have to buy plus about 600 labor maybe more unless u do it , on the other hand u have an automatic add to it tcu for 500 , vb for 500 and level 10 shiftronic kit for 1000 ,,,, its ur choice i hope that helps
