Yamaha V-Max
Here's my new project.
I needed to build a bike again so I decided to start this Aoshima Yamaha V-Max. The kit is pretty nice, but it's not the Tamiya quality we all know. From HobbyDesign I got this nice PE set for this kit. It contains some beautifull parts I think Blue is a good color on this bike. All I see is black V-Max's on Google I choosed this Fiat 599 New Orleans Blue paint by Sikkens. Kris.

Re: Yamaha V-Max
Got started with this kit.
First I added some brass wire on the engine for more strength. Glued the engine together cause it will be all painted one color. The PE parts are very thin. But I managed to glue the radiator parts without too much damage I want to paint the wheels in blue with a polished trim. So I needed to mask off the trim. After glueing the frame together I could primer it. I also painted it with a metallic Silver from Peugot. The silver is very bright and will be very nice after clearcoating. The fenders, tankcover needed to masked because I wanted some striping on it. Primered the engine already. This will be painted black or something. Then I painted the Fiat blue over it. Very nice already Kris.

Re: Yamaha V-Max
Painted the engine semigloss black but it's more like gloss black. Anyway it still looks good I also added the PE parts on the engine. It was a real nightmare to do but finally I'm done!
I also clearcoated the frame. After it was dry I could assemble the fueltank. It was hard to assemble cause I already glued the frame together. The same was with the engine. I needed some force to fit it in the frame. I clearcoated the bodyparts. Look how nice the blue came out! Kris.

Re: Yamaha V-Max
As far as your semigloss that looks gloss, this happens to me and I use some testors model master lacquer semigloss and flat mixed to give me the finish I am looking for. I have a bunch of different mixes, some 100% flat, 80% flat and 20% semigloss, etc. so i can get the final sheen I want. Some may say you don't want to throw lacquer on top of enamels/acrylics, but I am just misting for the finish, not color, and have yet to have any adverse reactions. Good work! I hope this helps! Re: Yamaha V-Max
new update:
First I assembled the discbrakes. After that I painted the center in Pale Gold (alclad). After that I could assemble the frontfork and rearlink. I also painted some parts in chrome (alclad). The exhausts needed a lot of sanding and some putty. But finally they are chrome too The airintakes are painted black/chrome. I glued the engine in place and I added some small parts. Most of them are painted chrome with alclad. And the seat is painted black with some flat clear. And a dryfit: Kris.

Re: Yamaha V-Max
Look nice but brake discs should have scratches around the perimeter rather than horizontal.
