1991 Jeep Cherokee Overheating? Please Help?
So I recently bought a 1991 Jeep Cherokee
Straight 6 motor with 204k miles on it Test drove it was fine during the test drive. Got it and drove it got maybe 5 or so miles and notice radiator fluid splashing up from the hood. Pull over checked it out checked the hoses nothing popped or was leaking so I turned around started to head home and it over heated. Popped the hood after a while I took the radiator cap off and fluid was flying like old faithful. No leaks or bad hoses it's currently in a shop so I'm hoping it's something hopefully somewhat simple. It does have 33inch tires with a 6 inch lift on it. Automatic transmission. Any insight helps thank you. |

I assume the garage did a pressure test and you have anti freeze in the engine. You have to pull the head or heads look for cracks between the cylinders. If no cracks send the head or heads to a machine shop for a pressure test. After this is done get an estimate to get a decent head or heads. They usually will give you a gasket set cheaper than a parts store. Your looking at a few hundred dollars at least. If your not helping I doubt he will do a complete head gasket for a couple cases of beer.
