Preventive Maintenance

I have a 22k on my GTI with no problems and I want to keep it that way. VW got hit hard on consumer reports. Anyway I want to know what a good miliage is to change the front and rear differential oil and transmission oil. I imagine these cars are not fun to work on since everything is jammed in there tight. Also I need to know the correct viscosity. I assume the same oil goes into the differentials as the gear box.

Also, how long does a clutch last if you go easy on them?

Thanks

Re: Preventive Maintenance

What engine do you have? The r32 is the only golf with a rear diff. I have noticed that any fluid other than the vw updated synthetic transmission fluid causes the low speed hummm noise when taking off from a stop and turning.
I reccomend changing the Trans fluid every 40k miles wether its a 5spd or automatic.
